I am a PhD Postsecondary and Adult Education learner and will use Chickering's Identity Development theory in my dissertation study. I teach at a 4-year private liberal arts university in a program (Bridge) that is designed for underprepared first-year college students. I will do a qualitative study that will discuss the experiences my sample participants encountered during their participation in the program that assisted in developing academic skills to help them persist in their educational journey.
