Most probably this is Melastoma malabathricum, which is a common and widespread pioneer species in SE Asia and Malesia. There exist other species of this genus, but probably none of them occurs in the area near Krakatau. A revision of the genus was published in 2001: http://dare.uva.nl/cgi/arno/show.cgi?fid=565341
Yes, I agree with Franz with Melastoma, but about the species it needs some more close up photographs. There are one genus in our country (Bangladesh)like the Melastoma, it is known as Osbeckia. You may check this one also!!
