I'm conducting a research to see the impact frequent forest fires and soil erosion on one of the perennial grasses found in the semi-arid regions of Eastern Ghats of India.

I hypotheses that chance of survival and re-sprout of grass might depend meristem/rhizome exposure to fire due to soil erosion at the base.

Design of the study:

  • Selected 3 sites with at least 1 forest fire every year in the last 15 years.
  • Fire occurred in first week of March 2018 .
  • Observed 900 individuals after 24 days.
  • Three rainfalls to help plant to re-sprout in 24 days.
  • Visited site from the 25th day of fire and following data were collected: a. Soil erosion= High, Medium and Low b. Fire killed=High, Medium and Low c. Re-sprouting= High, Medium and Low
  • I need advise from experiences in other location or country to choose a correct statistical analyses and any suggestion to improve my research?
