The Sandvik Coromant ISO 13399 database is now available in their website, is their someone who has worked with this database in automatic tool selection in a CAPP system?
I hope that these few links with video tutorials could help you in your project and give the answer at your question.
1. Adveon
Adveon is an open tool library integrated with CAM software. Based on the ISO 13399 standard, initiated by Sandvik Coromant. Adveon lets the programmer work with tools from any supplier. It works very simply. Pick the tools, create assembly and view the result in 2D and 3D. Finish by exporting the assembly to CAM or simulation software. Adweon will save time in the CAM process by up to 20%.
2. Siemens NX CAM Tech Tip show how to utilize your cutting tools with NX CAM and Manufacturin Resource Library Team Centar.
I have already heard about the Adveon Tool library, which is not an open source product. In fact,as you mentioned, the Adveon is integrated actually with CAM software (GibbsCAM, edgecam,NX SIEMENS...). It can import ISO 13399 cutting tool libraries such as Sandvik Coromant tool library. To be more specific, i don"t want to use Adveon because we want to design a full integrated CAPP system, which is based on STEP-NC and that uses ISO 13399 Sandvik library. Tools in this library are in P21 file with the FILE_SCHEMA : CUTTING_TOOL_SCHEMA_ARM. Each tool (holder, insert, attachment tool...) is defined by a p21 file containing its parameters. So, our aim is to handle directly these P21 files for tool selection purposes without recurring to Adveon or such as a tool. I hope i was clear.
I did a big search looking for new papers that treat this issue however, no news. If you find any one please send it to me. Thank you.
You was absolutely clear. Thank you for information. If I find what you are exactly looking for, I will send you the material.
Meanwhile, these articles are not exactly what you're looking for and you've probably already read it, but you can contact these people, and maybe they can help you or knows who can.
Thank you very much for the paper, i don't have it. You are right, i'll contact some people from STEPTools(Hardwick, David loffredo), they are specialists, i let them as a last chance :) because i always ask them questions.
