I'm going to begin research with about 100 participants of different ages in qualitative research. Using multiple case studies for drama therapy is my aim. Is it possible to have multiple case studies in Theatre therapy? Do you have any suggestions on that?
I developed a research in the area of social representation the subject in the conservation of contemporary art using unstructured interviews with artists and conservators-restorers and qualitatively it was possible to reach some important conclusions about the theme.
Multiple-case design is a research methodology in which several instrumental, bounded cases are examined using multiple data collection methods. This research methodology is more powerful than single-case designs as it provides more extensive descriptions and explanations of the phenomenon or issue.
Multiple case studies can be used to either augur contrasting results for expected reasons or either augur similar results in the studies (Yin, 2003). In this way the author can clarify whether the findings are valuable or not (Eisenhardt, 1991).
Qualitative case study is a research methodology that helps in exploration of a phenomenon within some particular context through various data sources, and it undertakes the exploration through variety of lenses in order to reveal multiple facets of the phenomenon (Baxter & Jack, 2008)
Yin's book, Case Study Research and Applications, is the best source I have found for doing comparative case studies. However, a sample of 100 would be quite large for the amount of effort involved in not only collecting but also analyzing in-depth qualitative data.
