I am undertaking a new project on "blood metaphors" across languages and cultures. I do have very few references on the topic. I was wondering if members of the RG community can think of or have come across publications on "blood metaphors". Many thanks for your collaboration. Best
A really interesting idea! Best of luck with this project. The first thing that popped into my mind was Shakespeare. There are certainly a lot of references to blood in Macbeth (though probably most are literal). There is a recent paper in Review of Cognitive Linguistics (Vol 19, No 1) about blood metaphors in Arabic. Maybe that was the inspiration for your project?
Check the collection of studies on heart metaphor, edited by F. Sharifian. There may be some concerns there...

The idea for the project is as you said: I was writing a review of Zibin for the Review of Cognitive Linguistics when I realized that "blood" deserves a separate study from "heart" and other body parts.
To Gayane:
I have a chapter on the heart in Sharifian et al (2008), but "blood" is dealt with in connection with the heart. What I want is study "blood" as a source domain.

This is a highly interesting topic as blood is frequently used to express ideas in everyday conversation. It has been mentioned in numerous publications like Helman's (2007) Culture, health and illness and Kövecses's (2015) Where metaphors come from: Reconsidering context in metaphor. However, there have been very few publications dedicated to blood metaphors. Three significant papers, in addition to Simó (2011), are listed below.
