I am looking for a way to cover very light plastic with a conductive paint (off the shelf) that has similar properties of copper wire or equivalent. I found a paint called Bare Wire (http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/eb92/) however, its surface resistivity (or sheet resistivity) is 55 ohm/Sq at 50 micro-m thickness which is high when compared to copper surface resistivity of 0.68 milli - ohm/Sq at 25 micro-m.
Have You tried a typical paint for samples for Scanning Electron Microscope with Ag? Sometimes the simplest way is the best way :-)
Thanks Wojciech, I have never dealt with Scanning Electron Microscope before therefore I did not know about the use of silver paint. I googled for silver paint and I found some. Including Gold paint and conductive carbon paint. I will review them to see if I can find them useful. You are right, sometimes the simplest way is the best way. Another option occurred to me while I was eating baked potatoes for dinner. When I was shaking some salt on potatoes I realized I could do the same if I fine sand the copper wire to a powder, cover the plastic with superglue and then with copper powder.
Or You can simply sputter a desired metal with PVD (magnetron, or DC-sputtering). It's also quite easy ;-)
Depending on what you are doing you could be better off sputtering especially for small samples.
Ferro corporation used to sell Copper filled paint for printed electric circuits. Silver would be even better, as silver oxide is highly conductive
