I'm looking for a reliable U.S. company for custom antibodies and have been leaning towards Biomatik or Genscript.

Have you considered Pierce Antibodies (by ThermoFisher)?
mAbs or pAbs? Immunoprecise is excellent (Canada) and rapid for mAbs.
Also Rockland for Pabs
Havent used those two for Abs

Genscript did exactly what you mentioned. We are actually also waiting for an antibody from Biomatik to be delivered, so I hope they will send us a bit more.
