We are experiencing problems drying THF and diethyl ether with an MBraun SPS solvent purification system. The solvents have the expected low water content (10-20 ppp according to Karl-Fischer-Titration), but they react with very air-sensitive compounds, for example potassium anthracene. Furthermore, diethyl ether turns yellow when we store it over a potassium mirror (this is usually used in our lab as an indicator that the solvent is really dry). The drying regular capacity of the columns is far from being consumed. Has anyone experienced similar problems or any tips what to do? Kind regards, Robert
