In "vivo" we do it during histeroscpoy when evacuating the uterus because of missed abortion. By doing that procedure of HSK, we obtain better results of the karyotype of the pregnancy concerning the reason of the miscarriage.
I am interested in the chorionic villi in vitro but would be interested to learn about magnifications and camera set ups in different settings. However, my aim is to record the 3D characteristics of chorionic villi.
I have photographed them in 3D at 4-40X on a confocal, stained with phalloidin (which permeates the tissue well after 24h at 4 degrees) and DAPI. Several of my papers contain these images, eg Robbins et al 2010, Zeldovich et al 2011 and Robbins et al 2012. (Years may not be exact; I didn't check first)
