In every class, I would be bringing something very interesting of every culture. Every culture has its own interesting and amazing facts in them. Like in Bengali culture, taking about the first day of the Bengali new year is very interesting. I will bring one interesting thing every day. Maybe will tell students in advance to that my next class will start with a colorful festoons for the new year festivals. I think that could make the students more engaged with the class.

Great question! I think you have to be somewhat brave, very professional and super enthusiastic. I have run RP workshops for many years and have developed numerous ways to get people involved. Sometimes I give a short presentation on RP history , its roots in SSM and why it is such a fantastic tool for gathering worldviews. I always emphasise the importance of gaining tacit knowledge alongside explicit. I like to give examples of previous RPs from across the world in many different disciplines. This helps to give credence to the tool and also encourages the less artistic group members to realise that drawing skills are not important. Groups of 4/5 work best with limited colour pens, flipchart size paper and 20/25 minutes of drawing time. I would never advocate that a facilitator records the workshop groups whilst they are discussing and drawing however I do (audio not video)record the groups after the drawing session when they are telling the other groups what they drew and why. I find the audio transcript helps enormously with post analysis of the RPs. My PhD thesis is on rich pictures and along with other RP papers I have also written a paper on RP facilitation “ Rich pictures , the role of the facilitator”.
