When you say classification - it can be based on the functions or application areas but from your question it is not very clear by what do you mean by global product classification.

There are certain international standards that a product should meet to be able to reach the customers or market in that particular country / region.

Other industry standards are also applicable to such products.

Therefore it would of great help if you can specify as what are you exactly looking for.
