I have to use gfortran-5.2 or higher and tried to install fortran on ubuntu. By writing a linux command, it installs gfortran-4.9 but i need gfortran-5.2 or higher. Secondly, I have installed Gcc-5.3 but it doesn't work as well. However, it is mentioned that it has c and fortran compilers. In fact, I have to compile a code, which written in gfortran-5.2 coupled with python. So I need gfortran compiller with 5.2 version or higher to compile that code. Could anyone suggest me how to resolve this issue and how & where can I download and install gfortran 5.2 or higher??? This is my first time to use Linux as well.
first you need to remove the version 4.9:
sudo apt-get remove application
download the correct version (links) and install it, or update the given version of gfortran (last link)
