The answer is not obvious, because I am a new immigrant in USA and I would like to go a state that be useful and have a opportunity for me. I would like to go California, but I would like to have a good destination with a graduate destination.

Yes I really like to study PhD but I think it is a bit hard to find that in USA.

Yes your answer is correct, but what is Iranian guilty in this situation, it is political issue between governments. I really like to study and learn from others but sometimes my geographical place make it too much problematic for me.

I hope one day world provide same situation and opportunity for students around the world without judging them by their political and geographical condition.

I think, looking for Ph.D would be easier than getting a position for Masters with funding. Since, oil is what you are looking at, look for Texas. South west is doing well in Geology as a overall. My university also has a good petroleum engineering department.

Yes I know a little about the location of each major, but getting fund in geology is a bit hard, because of tons money.

Nice you are in the USA. Used to have many opportunities in geology in the USA, now it has less. A new graduate from Canada just got a job in exploration in Utah. Don't know details, but I am sure it is not oil. Keep looking, you will find it!
