My recent project in university is to develop a car OS using the available open-source kernels. The testing and development board for this operating system will be Raspbery pi, I need to know which of FreeRTOS or Zephyr is the right choice for this project?

1st one is probably more mature, but at least its website looks archaic
I see 2nd one lists Intel too at the bottom of the page
What is the purpose of this OS? To be used for car infotainment system? Or to create autonomous driving?
If car infotainment is the goal with some autonomous driving, and since you are using raspberry pi, I think the best solution would be to use Linux with RT-Preempt patches.
However, if you don't need GUI and you have to choose between FreeRTOS and Zephyr, I would go with FreeRTOS because It supports much more architectures (probably you can already find port to RPi). Zephyr isn't targeted at high level ARM's (Cortex-Ax) since it is meant to be used in constrained devices (read Cortex-Mx), so you would have to port it yourself.
@Strahinja thanks for your answer, It's mostly used for infotainment, driving assistant programs like navigation systems.
