Innovative ideas can emerge through a systematic review. Identify a gap and start will recommend or future studies. From there , you can keep polishing your ideas work until it becomes innovative
Remote sensing satellite images, terrain data and land use patterns in and around forest areas maybe useful to start with. You can then start defining the problem you want. For example it might be locations of endangered species including fauna and flora, rainfall patterns, impact of deforestation, and so on. You must know what has been done in the literature first.

One prevalent area of focus is the estimation of carbon sequestration utilizing remote sensing tools., I propose a combination of remote sensing and dendrometric measurements conducted in the field to estimate the quantity of carbon sequestered in a forest ecosystem.
