In case of normal OPC based concrete we test the setting time of cement paste and consider it as the setting time of concrete due to less variation. In case of geopolymer concrete I am certain that the same will happen! I think the setting time of geopolymer concrete will vary from the paste. Nevertheless we can test the setting time of geopolymer paste by vicat's apparatus but how we will measure setting time of geopolymer concrete? There is a code in Indian provision to measure the setting time of concrete named penetration resistance test (i.e- IS-8142: 1976), how much this test is appropriate for geopolymers?

How is the IS-8142 comparable with the Vicat apparatus test, which is used for normal OPC concrete and also used for GP paste. There should be some papers on the comparison
The IS-8142 Indian standard code to test the setting time of concrete and the test name is Penetration resistance test. The vicat's apparatus is used to determine the setting time of cement paste only(IS-4031), not the concrete. Nevertheless in case of Cement concrete the setting time is nearly same for both concrete and cement paste. In fact I believe the setting time of Geopolymer paste and concrete will vary, so I want to know that the Penetration resistance test will appropriate for GP or not .
