so, I'm designing a metamaterilas antenna with some specific characteristic, I'm confused because some researcher take "open (add space) " for metamaterials designing antenna in all direction, but others they take unit cell for x and y, and " open (add space )" on z ( direction of propagation), and what is the effect of this condition after the fabrication of antenna, what is his roles on the antenna radiation ?
second question is : whene I'm taken the unit cell as condition the gain reduce to ' -50 dB ' , but for add space condition the gain will be ' 1 or 2 ' dB mean a acceptable gain, so is there any relation between the condition and the gain or there are mistakes .
Dear Kedjar. if I get correctly, the unit cell B.C is needed just for in ur primary design to get the dimensions. for the altimate design, u should use open add space and implement optimization around ur primary design parameters to get the best results.
Nima Saliani so, from ur answer we can say that the unit cell configuration on metamaterial are used whene we will fabricate a periodic structure, isn't. so open add space is a general condition regardless of the antenna type.
Unit cell B.C is just to get the primary design parameters subject to ur desired results. open add space is needed when ur antenna will work in free space. if it is in a e.g. metallic box, u should use PEC B.C.
