Hi members, for highly modified bitumen, mscr test had certain limitations as of we test at 70-76 degree it will probably gives almost 100 recovery due to enough polymer network and crosslinking. So the AASTHO says that in that case jnr diff. should be ignored.

I believe for these kind of samples.. there should be some changes in the mscr test. At 70 degree, beyond 7-8 weight percent polymer, we end up in getting 💯% ER, so its Either increase the lower stress level from 0.1 kPa to 1 kPa ,, or to get the best results , test could be conducted at atleast 76-82 degree to distinguish between sample properties.

Performing the test at above 82 degree for example at 88 suppose..will again may not be sufficient as we were almost reached to Tg of styrene units present in the HiMA sample.

There are certain limitations for these samples once we go for MSCR test..

Can anyone suggest what should be the ideal parameters to get lesser variability and evaluate the recovery so that even 6%-9% SBS if someone uses. How they evaluate the effectiveness and performance properties especially through MSCR test, although we know we get 100% recovery due to such high dosages..

Expert comments and experience of authors are really appreciated.

Thanks..
