Looking at the character of the sori, Ms. Piu Das , who works on Indian Pteris, has confirmed that it is not Pteris. One can contact her in this regard. She is also a RG member.
Hard to say. Dryopteridaceae or Thelypteridaceae; I suggest the former. It most closely resembles Ctenitis to me, but I don't think we can be sure from the photos.
Certainly not Pteris! Sori shape and outline of indusia (clearly visible on the image when enlarged) are consistent with a species of Dryopteris of the D. filix-mas aggregate. Further identification by a specialist may be possible, but would be helped by providing chromosome number (and, of course, exact provenance data)
I agree with Dr. Greuter and others. It seems to be a Dryopteris species, but without detailed images of sori its identification may be quite difficult, if not impossible. On the other hand, it would help to know the precise location in which the photo was taken.
Bes regards, and good luck with the correct identification of this fern.
