Currently I'm trying to qualify storage tank nozzle load using ANSYS (not NOZZLE FE), since the tank is too large to model i have sub modeled the same. (Later want to compute the effectiveness of NOZZLE FE on the same) I have a bit of confusion in fixing the boundary conditions since the nozzle is subjected to both Forces and moment. I have attached my Boundary conditions. Please let me know your valuable suggestions.

Your model can be fixed in a quite simple way, but you have to use cylindrical coordinate system inserted at the tank axis. Face 1 and Face 2 of your model must be cut radially, and fixed using frictionless support (non displacement normally to these faces), for this purpose you can use cylindrical coordinate system, and fix these faces in circumferential direction. Face 3 - zero displacement in Z direction. Face 4 - Pressure thrust on vessel top face. Additionally - loads on the nozzle.

Yaroslav Dubyk Sir I agree with your BC's except a point. Why do we put pressure thrust on the top face FACE 4, as the bottom face is not having a closed dished end modeled. Wouldn't that put a redundant load on top ?
