Fake Certification Verification?

Is there any work going on or completed on Fake certificate Verification? I would like to know whether it requires AI or Image processing? Thanks in Advance

How can it turns into automation? If someone submitted the certificate at organization, its not possible every time to everyone to visit the university to verify the certificate. Keeping this in mind I am thinking how to convert it into automation?
