We have prepared the ECAP die without arrangement of preheating facility. But now am not able to press magnesium material at lower temperatures (in between 200 to 250). Can you please suggest me how to arrange the facility to heat the ECAP die before processing.
It is a good idea to heat the alloy in the die before pressing. If you havent designed it the only way is to heat the sample outside and transfer it quickly to the extrusion pression if there is a provision to do so. However, you will never get the temperature you wanted.
The best idea is to design a die with heating.
Thank you very much sir. I have done the experiment that what ever you have said but the materials was broke into 12 to 13 pieces for 100 mm length. The ECAP die was already heat treated to do heating arrangements. Can you please suggest any other ideas.
Usually such test conduct at 533 or 573 K at a ram speed of 0.4 mm/min in a chamber purged by N2 gas. Boron nitride /Mo disulphide lubricant usually used to reduce the friction between the sample and container as well as between the sample and micro-die. The sample loaded into a container, heated to the testing temperature and then extruded into the gear die after a holding time of 10 min.
There is always a consequence of strain-hardening with increase after ECAP, and activation of non-basal slip systems and twinning are considered to yield this result..
The good idea is to start with smaller starting material as ECAP generates tremendous pressure and attaining uniform temperature throughout is difficult on laboratory scale, so you have to design your experiment much carefully.

Thank you Mr. Abhijeet sir, My ram ram speed was 2 mm/sec and also temperature used 673 K. But still specimen was broke into pieces. So am not getting what i have to do. Now am planning heat arrangements of Die Channel for ECAP. I hope it may come. Once again thank you so much for you people.. If you dont mind can you send us the answer for other question please
May i know the Which grade of Mo disulphide lubricant using for this experiment?
Sir can you please inform me of the details of your ECAP chamber. I need to know what the dimensions of the die are and what material is the die made of? Im starting my FYP regarding ECAP process and it would be a great help to me if i know the governing factors regarding this process.
