In the research, I often see the confusion between ecosystem function and ecosystem service, and even some studies use both of them interchangeably, which makes me a little confused. When we discuss ecosystem function, what precisely do we mean, although some studies also cast doubt on ecosystem function? Is it productivity, community ecosystem stability, carbon sources and sinks within the ecosystem, or the self-sustaining capacity of the ecosystem? What about ecosystem services?

The meaning of ecosystem function is the relationship between ecosystem components and the tasks that each component performs for the stability and survival of the system.
Ecosystem services are a set of outputs that the system produces and affects different sectors. These services include supply, regulatory, cultural and support services that provide to humans and other living beings.
1- Supply services: It includes supply of food, water, wood and other natural resources.
2- Cultural services: includes entertainment, education, religious and ceremonies.
3- Regulatory services: includes climate change control, air and water pollution control, and biological disease control.
4- Supporting services: includes protection of biodiversity, protection of soil and water, and protection of natural resources.
Ecosystem is an essential service for humans and the environment and is very important.
