Driving HRLDAS with GPM satellite precipitation data. How to deal with GRIB format issues?

I am trying to use GPM precipitation to drive the HRLDAS.

I am running into errors when I try to create the forcing files. It appears that

STOP Precip Problem A?

Does anyone know if how to either acquire GPM precipitation in a different format or convert between complex and simple packing schemes in GRIB1 files?
