I am trying to implement Transmit (pulse shaping) and Receive (Matched) filter.

Since the raised cosine spectrum is Non-Causal and in time domain it extends from -infinity to +infinity we have to make to approximations to raised cosine spectrum.

I have two important doubts which I mention below.

1. The time domain pulse shape corresponding to raised cosine spectrum takes values very close to zero beyond certain value of time 'T'. So the pulse shape can be approximated as a finite duration pulse shape

DOUBT: What is the mathematical process involved in choosing the value of 'T'? How can I find the value of 'T'?

2. The time domain pulse shape corresponding to raised cosine spectrum takes values for negative values of time also, which makes the pulse shape non-causal. So the Pulse is shifted in time by a value of 'T0' to make the entire pulse shape causal.

DOUBT: how to choose the value of T0?

These are my doubts.
