1- Bulk doping: when you out a trace of element A to element B and seal them in a container then cooling them slowly or quickly to a certain temperature the resultant material will be the alloy AB. so the whole resultant material is bulk AB and the element A is completely mixed and react with element B. See Fig.(a)
2- Surface doping: if coat the surface of element A with element B and make annealing according to DTA or DSC the element A will partially react with element B and diffused though the interface area between element A and element B only.So the surface of the resultant material will be an alloy AB and the other part of the material will be as it is. the the resultant material of surface doping has two types: the first one is material A the second one is material AB at the same time.
