A good number of the youth in education are on social media. A lot more engaging in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. but does these technologies be of handy to the youth who might not have been well informed about its benefits in education?
Students do use Social Media in school related things such as projects by conversing with each other. However, do students use it to learn? I'm not sure. While students will certainly learn something, especially if they have an interest in learning which the algorithms would share pages or groups for them, they wouldn't know where to start in terms of finding webinars and live video chats with professionals. Frankly, social media is a great place to find educators or interesting topics such as Ted Talk videos or lifehacks. But it's also a place where fake news spreads easily. So if we want the students to interact with social media as places for education, we would need to direct them to those spaces with available content.
