Dear, we draw a circle with the help of a compass , its tip of one of the leg of it as "Centre". Actually the beginning of the so called Centre becomes RADIUS. So, RADIUS EXISTS . And, similarly, before the ORIGIN OF MATTER , there was FORCE / ENERGY /NOTHING , but there was SPACE with NO NO NO DIMENSION.
The space or nothing or ENERGY concentrated and transformed into a COSMIC EGG and that was the the first PARTICLE.. In the ancient India, and in RIG VEDA this COSMIC EGG WAS CALLED "HIRANMAYAANDAM".
When matter was originated a new physical concept called "DISTANCE" between two particles / bodies came to life.
So, to conclude that SPACE EXISTED BEFORE THE ORIGIN OF MATTER.
The theory of origin of matter was known to ancient Indian RISHIS.
The next step was ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE (after the origin of matter.)
It was mentioned in a book in Sanskrit language titled NAARAAYANEEYAM authored by Narayan Bhatta Tirupaadulu. It is said in the book that Hiranmayaandam ( Cosmic Egg) was broken into 14 worlds " CHATURDASA BHUVANALU by the PARAMESWAR.
LIST OF NAMES OF CHATHURDASA BHUVANALU - 1. BHULOKAM 2.BHUVARLOKAM 3.SUVARLOKAM 4.MAHARLOKAM 5.JANALOKAM 6. THAPOLOKAM 7.SATYALOKAM 8.ATHALAM 9.VITHALAM 10.SUTHALAM 11.RASATHALAM 12.MAHATHALAM 13.THALATHALAM 14.PATHALAM.
The idea of BIG BANG was known to Indians thousands of years ago.
But,
Georges Henri Joseph Édouard Lemaître (/ləˈmɛtrə/ lə-MET-rə; French: [ʒɔʁʒ ləmɛːtʁ] ⓘ; 17 July 1894 – 20 June 1966) was a Belgian Catholic priest, theoretical physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and professor of physics at the Catholic University of Louvain.......Lemaître also proposed the "Big Bang theory" of the origin of the universe, calling it the "hypothesis of the primeval atom",[9] and later calling it "the beginning of the world".
So, there was every possibility of reading translations of Rig Veda( into German,) by Lemaitre.----------------------

The concept of TIME DILATION (Time dilation is a physical phenomenon in which time moves differently for different observers in the same inertial frame (in which there is no acceleration between them). In time dilation, time moves slower for an observer who is in motion relative to another observer.)
was mentioned in MAHABHARAT of VEDAVYAASA while choosing a suitable lady as a wife to BALARAM brother of Lord Krishna.
Revati was the only daughter of Kakudmi. Feeling that no human could prove to be good enough to marry his lovely and talented daughter, Kakudmi took Revati with him to Brahmaloka—abode of Brahma.
When they arrived, Brahma was listening to a musical performance by the gandharvas, so they waited patiently until the performance was finished. Then, Kakudmi bowed humbly, made his request and presented his shortlist of candidates. Brahma laughed, and explained that time runs differently on different planes of existence and that during the short time they had waited in Brahmaloka to see him, 27 chatur-yugas had passed on Earth and all the candidates had died long ago.[9] Brahma added that Kakudmi was now alone as his friends, ministers, servants, wives, kinsmen, armies and treasures had now vanished from Earth and he should soon bestow his daughter to a husband as Kali Yuga was near.[10]
Kakudmi was overcome with astonishment and alarm at this news.[10] However, Brahma comforted him and added that Vishnu the Preserver was currently on Earth in the forms of Krishna and Balarama and he recommended Balarama as a worthy husband for Revati.
