Young groundwater (recharge water) that has infiltrated through the vadose before reaching the saturated zone has dissolved some minerals contained in the solid fraction of the vadose zone. Since rainwater is not enriched with minerals it has a higher potential to dissolve minerals contained in the vadose zone.
