There is a lot of information about the KAGRA experiment (Wikipedia, Google) but my impression is that the low sensitivity of the KAGRA gravitational detector – supposed to be created by the noise of the instruments on the magnitude of the signal – isn’t solved yet.

However, the KAGRA is positioned 200 m underground while Virgo and LIGO are on the surface of the earth. It is though that these 3 detectors are signalling gravitational waves that are created by black hole and neutron star mergers. The underlying framework is Einstein’s theory of General relativity.

However, in 1920 Einstein stated that gravity is an emergent influence that only comes to live if there is matter in the universe. It was Eric Verlinde (2011) who showed that Newtonian gravity is an emergent force field too. It we trust these well-founded opinions, gravitational waves are mediated by the universal electric field and not by a proposed (quantum) gravity field that will exist alongside the other basic quantum fields (electric, magnetic and Higgs field).

There is an indication that the theoretical framework that describes gravitational waves is even more complicated. Observations with LIGO and Virgo have shown that the existing data suggest that gravitational waves are not influenced (destorted) by gravitational lensing (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2304.08393).

Dear colleagues, thanks for your valuable comments. Please note that I won't discuss at all the nature of gravity nor the existence of gravitational waves and related hypothetical sources. I just state that KAGRA after improvement of their test mass suspensions didn't find signals similar to what is claimed by LIGO as originating from cosmic sources. The absence of LIGO-type signals at the KAGRA detectors apparently suggests LIGO signals to originate from inside their detector mechanics. See also:

With KAGRA having succeeded in removing signal noise from their test mass suspensions, which LIGO interprets as "true gravitational wave signals", it appears strange that KAGRA's sensitivity is officially specified two orders of magnitude lower than LIGO's.

I suspect the low sensitivity is claimed only to avoid discussion of the lack of gravitational wave evidence from KAGRA.

I can only reflect what I have read in a couple of papers, because I was never involved in the experimental research to detect gravitational waves. However it is remarkable that there is hardly no information about KAGRA although I read that they started running the detector again in April, 2023. So I expect that they had already made the headlines if the sensitivity of KAGRA was equal to – or even better – than LIGO (the aim was to do it better).

If we think about black hole mergers that are the “nuclei” of galaxies, we must keep in mind that galaxies with a disk shape have always a very large black hole in the centre. In other words, these black holes have determined the geometrical configuration of all the matter in a galaxy. Therefore it is not reasonable to propose that black hole mergers will not result in a huge impact in relation to the universal quantum fields. That is why I am convinced that LIGO and Virgo detect the expanding influence of these mergers.

Nevertheless, the existence of gravitational waves originates from Einstein’s theory of General relativity. It is the influence of concentrated energy (matter) on the geometry of space itself. Nowadays this concept is questionable because even set theory (mathematics) predicts that if space is influenced by matter, space and matter must have a shared property. The properties of matter are known (QFT) thus Einstein’s concept of space itself (spacetime) is a kind of model that represents properties that are also described in QFT. The argument that QFT has no description of gravity isn’t correct because everyone tries to incorporate Einstein’s curved spacetime in QFT (because they are convinced that gravity = curved spacetime). If we incorporate Newtonian gravity in QFT, gravity shows to be a large scale vector field that is super positioned on the small scale vectors of the magnetic field. In line with the influence of gravitation on the electromagnetic field. Even the equal magnitudes of the gravitational vectors from vacuum space around reflect a "curved" geometry.

The idea that Einstein’s gravitation is a topological field – like the universal electric field – isn’t sensible. No one knows how 2 topological fields (3 D) can exist within the volume of the universe while both show different distinct properties. This in contrast to different vector fields because these can be “merged” (super positioned), because vectors are 1-dimensional.

The paper in my previous comment describes that gravitational waves are not influenced by gravitational fields (distortion and/or lensing). However, it is possible that there is not enough data from the gravitational waves of mergers that pass a galaxy “in between”. On the other hand, if the proposed gravitational waves are from electric origin (universal electric field) there will hardly be distortion and/or lensing.

So I am really glad that you posted this subject about the KAGRA experiment because I didn’t know that the detector was build underground.

You may read the planned sensitivities of LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA in units of Mps of reach for the detection of BNS (binary neutron star merger) events from a table contained in the June 15, 2022, issue of KAGRA latest news, see reference below. The data is confirmed by KAGRA latest news in May 18, 2023, specifying LIGO at 160 Mps and KAGRA at 1 Mps. When even LIGO "true gravitational wave signals" are expected at amplitudes close to their noise limit, it obviously doesn't make sense to expect anything useful from KAGRA. KAGRA according to the table is expected to reach the present LIGO sensitivity not before 2028.

Unfortunately, due to lack of theoretical background I'm not able to comment on your aspects of Einstein GRT and alternatives.
