While designing material for students (junior Highschool) we wondered whether learning outcomes would be influenced if answer keys were too easy to access.
Does anybody know if this question has been researched?
Yes. It influences negatively. Real learning occurs when students are challenged (not overwhelmed), and the learner is immersed in a situation, allowed to perform, given feedback and provided chances to adjust her behavior.
yes. One of the most recent books make it stick discusses common fallacies in teaching. It has tons of references.

Thank you very much. I shall look into that book. I am most curious whether the effecta might differ for novices and experts.
