My partner and i always arguing about that. He always believe if Decision Support System (DSS) is part of Artificial Intelegent (AI). But, for 6 years, i studied about data mining, DSS is close to IS. Which is true from both statement? Maybe you can deacribe the reason about the answer...

It is a matter of perspective. A DSS is an information system (there can be no doubt about that), that can have many different configurations. Artificial Intelligence, predictive analytics, business process management: they can all be part of its configurations. In my opinion, it is primarily Information Systems Research (the fact that we researched DSS before we knew about AI, may be an indication), but studying it with an artificial intelligence view is just as justified.
