Some people avoid consuming milk and fishes at the same time because they believe that this may cause health problems, so I would like to know if there any scientific explanation of this.
I looked at academic sources but could not find anything. However, there were non-academic sites that discussed milk and fish. I was about to conclude that there was no scientific explanation when I found this site. It is Jewish and mentions milk and fish and discusses the combination (end of 4th paragraph, and 5th paragraph).
This suggests that it reflects historic teachings that - I wonder - had reasons for this advice in the past? I would be most interested if any RG members can through light on the subject.
In the past, I remember reading 'Purity and Danger' by Mary Douglas. I seem to recall that the reason for historic cultural dietary customs were discussed, for example, those that were hygienically beneficial in past times.
