So far I know, if you take a tiny fish specimen and want to decalcify it then first of all, demuscularize it with the help of aqueous KOH solution. Once, you get the skeleton and if, you further, want to decalcify/deminerilize it then then keep it in dilute HCl solution and boil the same for a while and finally treat it in a boiling aqueous glycerine.

I think y can use strong acid as formic acid or HCL & cheek bone by pin boint when it becom as spongy remove the bone from acid .
