The standard instrument in the field to measure degrees of 'intellectualization' would be the MMPI-2 [Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - second edition]. The 'K scale' is a specific measure of the degree to which one rationalizes and intellectualizes aspects in his/her life.

Hello from the UK. By using the term hyperrationalism are you contrasting this with something akin to fragmentation? In clinical situations I look for extreme responses to bipolar constructs and degrees of intellectualisation. Where there are many extreme ratings on repertory grids I tend to explore the perceptions of subjects, particularly the degree to which they consign constructs to various elements on an all or nothing basis, in other words, how black and white are they on dimensions of understanding. It seems that the more black and white subjects are on many dimensions the more likely they are to fit with the notion of hyperrationalism. Therefore you might consider looking at research using repertory grids and extreme response style.
