Then choose the appropriate approach: Near-field (incutive or capacitive) or far-field (microwave, optical, propagating waves). About software:
If the operating frequency is close to the self-resonance frequency (SRF) of coils - and electrical coupling contributes in power transmission - it is necessary to use full-wave simulators, HFSS is preferred. But if you are working at much lower frequencies where the link is purely inductive, you can use Maxwell or simple lumped circuit models in HSPICE, ADS or other circuit simulators.
