I am working on snow cover and vegetation phenology in near real time from remote sensing methods. Some special patterns of these variables could be easily explained by temperature or precipitation parameters. But I can't find a synthesis comparing weather conditions of a month or of a season with past data at the European scale which would be very useful for me.

Thank you for your answer but I am not fully fulfilled by the links that you send. I look more for data/website highlighting anomalies, exceptional events in a European context. I just found useful the website of the NOAA http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/data/composites/day/ which can give anomalies of different weather variables for a given period. These data are very interesting but it doesn’t give the context of these anomalies.
There are also interesting posts on national meteorological websites like on the MET Office: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/2014/winter but it remains at national scale...
So if you have others ideas, I am still interesting for them,

I think if you're after context as well as anomalies, then you'd be best downloading reanalysis data from somewhere like ecmwf and then searching for anomalies yourself. That way you can focus on the anomalies and trends that you're specifically interested in, and can decide on the amount of context you want/need for each one.
