There is a variety of fluorescent dyes for labeling and detecting components in a sample. We need a dye with an absorption maxima at wavelength 266 nm, which has an emission in visible spectral range. But most of the tables of spectral characteristics of dyes that are available, are started from around 350 nm, and so we still couldn't find our favorite dye.
Hi Parvaneh: You could try looking at dyes that are intended for UV laser pumped dye lasers. For example http://www.radiant-dyes.com/PDF/DATA_FOR_DYES-Excimer_Laser_pumped.pdf and http://www.radiant-dyes.com/PDF/DATA_FOR_DYES-YAG_Laser_pumped.pdf. I've used the PBD dye dissolved in cyclohexane and pumped at 248 nm. It has a very short lifetime (< 1 day) once you mix it in a solvent and doesn't last long under high power irradiation. Lambda Physik used to publish a really helpful handbook of dyes, their pump wavelengths and emission wavelengths. See if you can find a copy. You might find that some very good visible dyes like Rhodamine have a fortuitous absorption in the UV so you can pump them at 266. You just need to get the absorption spectra. Best, John

There are several coumarin dyes with absorption peaks around 260 - 290 nm. Kasha's rule tells you that molecules like these will generally fluoresce from S1 to S0 regardless of the excitation wavelength so these might work? Good luck.
I gess for You will be good antrathene ( or its dervatives). It is not dye, but it is scintillator class. Absorbtion bands (for first and second electon transitions) is about 250 and 350nm, while fluorescence band is 400-500nm. It can be used in cristall and solution states.
In the organic chemistry: adenine has absorption at 260 nm
For example molecules in nature: NADH and FAD coenzymes contain adenine, and their fluorescence 420-550 and/or 480-610 nm. (Buy from Sigma)
