For municipal waste handling, collection, transportation and disposal, what should be a minimum standard for small to large municipalities which is environmental-friendly and socially accepted? I would like to know some best practices of waste collection methods, collection route, appropriate type and capacity of transportation vehicles, distance of disposal sites from cities and disposal practices especially applicable in cities of developing countries.

As per GOI there is municipal solid waste handling rule 2000 in India and most recent rule 2013 have come up so, according to this rule we can work for this issue. Some latest international standers also there which we can follow for our technical management as well research work.
