In the past the Girdlestone procedure has been practiced for severe OA of the hip. In cases of bilateral Girdlestone very poor results have been reported in the 1950's and 60's as far as walking ability, daily activities, pain, etc. In the era of THA similar cases seem to be very rare. Nevertheless, there are some patients who refuse re-arthroplasty or cannot be subjected to it for different reasons. I wonder if somebody has experience with the outcome results in such cases.
