Dear all, I am interested in the effect of land use change on moisture recycling towards inland areas (such as the Sahel). My hypothesis is that with deforestation and urbanisation, the runoff coefficient of catchment areas between the ocean and the inland areas of interest increases, thereby reducing the percentage of rainfall that re-evaporates and moves onward (as moisture in the air) towards the inland areas, thereby reducing rainfall, even if atmospheric conditions for moisture transport improve.

Does anyone have long timeseries for me to test this hypothesis with, or does anyone have analysis on this that they are willing to discuss with me?
