I'm interested in evaluating how the original criteria that substantiates a heritage reconstruction project (after a natural disaster or warfare) turn out in reality.
I would like to identify, among other things, if these projects actually contribute to social healing/rehabilitation or to the development of the area, and if they are successfully linked to the community. And if not, to identify what unforeseen factors were involved in the project that prevented the initial objectives from being met.

Four years ago after the earthquake some figures have been published about the cost of reconstruction of the city of Lorca (Spain) I think it can be of interest for you since sometimes we need to know the real cost of reconstruction

I do plan on looking at this issue globally since I'd like to assess the different approaches to planning and implementing this type of reconstructions, and, especially, what kind of follow up research or reports there have been, and what have they shown.
I hope more people join the conversation, I believe we've come to a point where we're not only able but obliged to look back and evaluate objectively the outcomes of reconstruction projects. There is much to be learnt and improved from past experiences.
This issue just came out about the recovery from the earthquake of the city of Lorca, Spain. It might be of your interest.
