Local farmer usually used that method too, you can search about that in any research.. I was found that on YouTube video, commonly, not just fire ant but black ant could used too.. more video display about how to culture the ants...
I think many more biological control of pod borer. Such as used ants and other beneficial organism like fungi. It is could parasit to adult of pod borer. Over all usually local farmer implemented to control this pest by culture technic like used plastic to cover the pod and in my experience, the usefull to control this pest is Harvest early...

@Kiole Imale, the beneficial ant species used against cocoa pests include black ants (Dolichoderus thoracicus) and weaver ants (Oecophylla Smaragdina). The fire ant (Wasmannia auropunctata) and Yellow crazy ant (Anoplolepis gracilipes) are promising biological control agents. However needs more study to quantify their benefits to cocoa. The challenge to sustain their population in cocoa requires further study.
Kari Sogera Iamba , Thank you. Yes. Seems that most literature available is based on Black ant which I have sighted some of them. For your information and assistance; I sent a technical report to FAO-STREIT upon their request on possible research to use fire ants as biocontrol agents against CPB. I think from this research we can have some data on the benefits of fire ants to cocoa. Thank you again
