I have known with one of the available systems provided by this company it is possible to measure thermal conductivity in samples with a minimum diameter of 2 mm between room temperature and 700ºC. I would be very pleased if someone could tell me about this system (good reproducibility, accuracy, etc) and the price of the system. I would like to know about it to measure very small ceramic samples.
I think (taken into account what I have read in their web page) that for our samples it should be necessary to think about the 2500 system. In any case, the principle will be the same but the main change should be about the price. Hope to receive some information about any of the systems.

we have developed a proprietary software assisting in selection of the sensor size vs. specimen dimensions and vice versa. If you need, send me you materials parameters and I will tell you whether it is possible with TPS or now (there are several criteria to be fulfilled simultaneously).
The price of the system is much depending on the options. You may be better ask HotDisk for a quotation.
Thank you Michael, Our samples are between 1.9 and 2.4 mm diameter. Thermal conductivities should be in the 0.5 to 2.5 W/K.m. Maybe sometimes they could be slightly higher but not so much. Thank you again for your comments.
We have the TPS 2500 hot disk system, which is quite good and reproducible. Samples can not be so small. You can always get a result, but the accuracy will decrease dramatically. Personnally, I avoid measuring samples of diameters lower than 8 mm, which is already not so bad. Measurements can also be done from -30 to +150°C, using a thermostatic bath (supposed to work from -50 to +200°C). However, cooling takes a long time (and -50°C is virtually impossible to reach), so that water condenses on the sample, thereby strongly modifying its conductivity if not carefully packed inside an airproof/waterproof bag. Another regret: measurement in vacuum or in controlled atmosphere is impossible. Last regret, the cost. Even if we are happy with the system, it was around 60 k€ including thermostatic bath, all options and additional probes. This is clearly too much for what it is.
