"Expert choice" software for Analytical Hierarchy Process is based on the Saaty's Approach, in which priority vector is calculated using Eigenvector method, and Geometric mean is used for the group aggregation but it seems they used different approach.

Once Saaty scale is not a regular one, but a rational, the geomatric mean is the best Aggregation function.
But in my opinion, if you have more than one evaluator, the best approach is to calculate a final result for each one, and only if you need only onde result, then aggregate them.
When you agregate all results in a only one, you losoe some information. Most methods are compensatory.

They use GM. But, there are two way to do that, aggregating judgments (combining judments at the initial stage) or aggregating individual priorities (at the final stage), and sometime they may give you different results.
Use one or another combining form, it will depend of what type of problem do you have, and more important, how you (and of course the group decision making) want to face it.
