Does anyone know of good peer-reviewed journal articles that summarizes satellite observations of the many large icebergs that have calved off Antarctica over the past few decades? I seem to be finding primarily press releases and newspaper articles.

you are right, most recent calving events are primarily presented in press releases (e.g. very recent at Pine Island Glacier). Only a few (and single) calving events were published in peer-reviewed articles, e.g.

When you are looking for calving fluxes of the entire Antarctic ice sheet, there is an article about it:

Not sure this is helpful in terms of specific calving, and you probably have these already, but in terms of the generalised glacial advances and retreats around Antarctica you should also take a look at:
Rignot et al. 2013. Science 341. Ice shelf melting around Antarctica.
Miles et al. 2013. Nature (letters) 500, Rapid climate driven changes in outlet glaciers on the Pacific coast of East Antarctica.
Shadwick et al. (accepted/ or maybe published now) GRL. Glacier tongue calving reduced dense water formation and enhanced carbon uptake.
