I have a linear data (Independent variable) and a circular data (Dependent variable). I need to find the circular linear regression line between these 2 data. Does anyone have a MATLAB code for this? or can anyone give some good lead to do circular linear regression?
Are you fitting polynomials to your data? If so, I don't know how you would ensure continuity of your fitted function (at +/-pi). If you are fitting (complex) sinusoids (i.e. doing a DFT) you would not need to worry about that, because it is assumed that the data wrap around, so the circular boundary condition will be satisfied automatically!
OK, for some other non-sinusoidal basis, you could possibly enforce some boundary conditions on the solution, but that would be a round-about way of doing things.
