Crop rotations is the head of crop management. That due to its importance in field technical inputs like seeds management, pests control, soil fertility, irrigation models, agronomic or horticultural practices and several other factors. I need a good reference in this field that could be handled and put into practice world wide.
The Rodale Institute Farming System Trial compares a biologically based organic system to conventional maize and soybean rotation. The biologically based organic system will produce competitive crop yields without the synthetic chemical inputs and at the same time increase soil organic matter which results in mitigating global greenhouse gasses. A rotation that works uses oats as a principal initial crop followed by winter wheat. In the late winter and early spring legume and grass is inter=seeded to produce two years of hay and forage which builds up the soil nitrogen and organic matter. The fourth crop is maize and winter rye is used as a cover crop before soybean after which hairy vetch is used to be nitrogen so the source for a second maize crop after which wheat is planted and rotation goes back to hay forage production. This rotation can be used to produce animals using manures with crop residues to produce compost which is applied before the planting of winter wheat.

Based on soil quality, moisture availability and local needs, suitable cropping systems can be designed. For instance, silvipasture can be the best option in arid and semiarid regions, if the stakeholders are engaged in livestock husbandry.
