Writing book is an essential attribute for an academic. I have recently published my second book on water: A journey through water, scientific exploration of the most anomalous liquid on earth.
I have co-authored 11 books and four solution manuals. The first one was on Numerical Methods was published by Holt Rinehart and Winston. The acquisition editor actually approached me about writing it. The books presents some new concepts that couldn't be explained through journal articles. Also, I tried to deliver a message that all new developments were based on the foundations of scientists and mathematicians from years past. Thus, at the beginning of each chapter, I had a picture either from the Sumerian of Iraq or the USA to connect the past to the present.
Shibabrata Pattanayak books on food poisoning is very relevant and crosses all cultural boundaries. Perisa's book translation is very important to provide more access to then scientific community. All of my books were in English.
I have published two edited books entitled "Bjolovical and Biotechnical Resources" and "Bioresource and Environent". The third book on Aroma Science and Technology is in the process of publication.
But, what I could understand that the question seeks our opinion on the habit of writing on the pages of books to remember the key points. In this regard I would state that I don't think writing in book pages is good. While reading a.book, if I find domething worth to be noted, I use sticky note slip.

Well, I am sorry for my inconvinience, but I´ve seen the answers, and I do not feel sure that I understood the question. Please, could you clarify?
If the question is: Do you write books? the answers are right. And my answer would be: yes, I´ve written 3 books, all of them in portuguese of Brazil.
But as the question is: Do you write in your books? Why or why not? seems to me that Dr. Rasha is asking another thing: If we take notes of results of research in our books or just computers - or something else. And why do we do the especific option to take note.
It's good to write a few points, explanations, translation of some words and expressions while reading. I always hold a pencil to jot down points or underline some sentences when I read any kind of books
Since ~20 years, all my works (books, articles, courses) are in electronic form. The latest book that I published in paper form is from 1989. The future of publishing is electronic. However, I am not blaming Moses for his stone tablets; the quality of ideas counts.
